When Ed Schmelz purchased his first 4-plex apartment building in 2004 in his hometown of Union, MO, it was the start of ELS Properties. Ed continued to add a number of properties to his company to the point where help was needed in the office. In 2008, that help came in the form of Ed’s wife, Cassie, when she joined the ELS Team. 

Today, ELS Properties manages over 1,850 apartments, villas, and townhomes consiting of all ages and 55+ senior living communities in multiple Missouri counties including Franklin, Warren, Montgomery, St. Francois, and Gasconade. We have an experienced and growing team of property management and maintenance professionals who are driven to provide excellent service to our residents.

ELS received the state wide award of Outstanding Economic Impact Project for our International Shoe Factory Lofts in Washington, MO in 2022 from the Missouri Main Street Connection.
